A Brief History
The Parish of Erukkencherry was established on 24th May 1978 and entrusted to the Salesians.
Sastri Nagar and Satyamurthy Nagar were its substations. Rev. Fr. Joseph Vettam SDB took charge
of this Parish as its first Parish Priest. He established a number of schools both English and Tamil.
After the tenure Fr. K.P. Joseph SDB, the Archdiocese took charge of this Parish.
The first
Archdiocesan Priest was Fr. Vincent Chinnadurai who upgraded the schools and built a new church
in honour of St. Joseph.
In the year 2003 the Parish celebrated its Silver Jubilee when the Adoration
Chapel was constructed.
