A Brief History
In 1964 Burmese Repatriates of Tamil origin settled in Sastri Nagar and Vyasarpadi area. Rev. Fr. Mantovani SDB spared no efforts to provide these people good housing and other basic necessities. Rev. Fr. Mantovani died on 19th May 1967 at the age of 55. Rev. Fr. Schlooz SDB, another great Salesian Missionary helped the Burmese repatriates. He built small
Chapels for the people to pray. This was erected as a Parish in 1981. The present Church was built and consecrated on 18th March 1984.
