A Brief History
On 2nd October, 1977, St. Luke's Church, Anna Nagar was bifurcated from Kilpauk and erected as a
Parish by His sGrace, the Archibishop of Madras-Mylapore Dr. R. Arulappa.
The first Parish Priest was Fr. Paul Maruthanakuzhi, SSP. From its inception, this Parish was entrusted to the religious Priests of
St. Paul. In 1990 the church was extended.
The Parishioners built an adoration chapel and a church
dedicated to the Divine Mercy. The Parishioners look after the maintenance of the Church.
The Divine
Mercy Church was blessed and consecrated on the 29th June 2003 by Most Rev. Dr. Arul Das James,
the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore. The Parish has three sub-stations.
